Many are led to believe that it is, and, luckily, that is not at all the case. There are many career training programs across the NYC area geared to specific career tracks and industries in need of an able-bodied, and proficient workforce.

CO-OP Tech
A New York City Department Of Education Program designed to train NYC High School graduates in the fields of Health Careers, Building Trades, Service Industries, and Information Technologies, all for FREE! Per Scholas
Per Scholas is a registered non-profit organization looking to train High School graduates in the growing technology industries of IT Support, Network Engineering, and Software Testing. These careers are in growing demand across the global marketplace of jobs. And, of course, Per Scholas is absolutely FREE and includes course materials, counseling, and job placement in major corporations, non-profits, and in government, at no extra cost to the student.

NPower
NPower, along with corporate sponsors who make this FREE career training program possible, looks to train High School graduates in the field of Technology through their Technology Service Corps Program & their Young Adult Cyber Security Program teaching the in's and out's of the IT and Cyber Security Industries, respectively.

Phipps Neighborhood Career Network: Healthcare
Phipps Neighborhood's Career Network for Healthcare Professionals trains High School graduates to be placed into a variety of highly demanded Healthcare Professions including: Nursing Assistants, Physical Therapy Aides, Surgical Technicians, Medical Secretary, just to name a few. This career training program is offered at NO COST and absolutely free to the student!
